Authur James Lewis, 76, passed away on November 25, 2021, at the Hearthstone Place in Elkton. His funeral services will be Saturday Dec. 4, 2021, at noon in the Chapel of Adams & Sons Mortuary. There will be a social distancing, walk-through visitation from 10 a.m. until the beginning of the funeral. The Reverends Clarence Boyd and Larry Russell will be officiating. The burial will take place at the New Zion Church Cemetery.
The son of the late Virginia Mae Boyd Whitney and Raymond Lewis, Authur was born on June 6, 1945, in Hopkinsville. He was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and custodian. Authur was employed at Phelps Dodge where he worked for many years.
In addition to his parents, Virginia Mae Boyd Whitney and Raymond Lewis, Authur is preceded in death by his siblings Darlena Boyd, Teresa Whitley, Mary Ray and Timothy Boyd.
Authur leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Eric (Tanya) Boyd of Green Acres, Fla., and Christopher Boyd of Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Rev. Carl (Cheryl) Bumphus, Rev. Clarence Boyd and Decovan (Cynthia) Boyd, all of Hopkinsville, William Whitney of Augusta, Ga., and Larry Whitney of Odessa, Texas; sisters, Regina Bowden of Columbia, Md., Sharon (Ronald) Lewis of Frederick, Md., Relmer (Rev. James) Deloach of Peoria, Ill., and Brenda Johnson of Augusta, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
