Gertrude Combs Stewart, 88, Hopkinsville, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 at Christian Health Center.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel Baptist Church in Fairview with the Revs. Terry Joiner and Larry Dale Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Gray Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.

A native of Roaring Springs, she was born June 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Henry Ernest Stagner and Hyda Rae Martin Stagner.

She had worked as a clerk at Atkins Dairy and retired as the Head City Clerk from the City of Hopkinsville in 1993. She was a member of Calvary Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Combs, Austin Vass, Bennie Woods, Richard Stevens and Raymond Stewart; and her brothers, Walter Martin Stagner, Roger Clark Stagner, James Lyndell Stagner and Ernest Wayne Stagner.

Survivors include her son, the Rev. Larry Dale (Lynn Flanigan) Combs, Hopkinsville; her brother, Henry Lawrence (Sue) Stagner, Honey Grove; her sister, Edith Joiner, Gracey; one grandson and six great-grandchildren.
