Lenard R. Ezell, 89, Hopkinsville, died at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church with the Revs. David Tucker and Ed Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Trigg County, he was born Sept. 6, 1930, the son of the late Roy Elmo Ezell and Minerva Katherine Pryor Ezell.
He was a farmer, a paint and wallpaper contractor, and had recently retired from Gracious Me. He served in the National Guard for 12 years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer in Kentucky in 1966.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Rawlins; his son in law, Dale Simmons; and one grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Gresham Ezell; his daughters, Judy Simmons, Evansville, Ind., and Sherry (Earl) Calhoun, Hopkinsville; his son, Dan Ezell and Michael Alexander of Venice, Fla.; his brother, Clendon (Pat) Ezell, Hopkinsville; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Second Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
