Darrell Eugene Mathews, 68, Oak Grove, died on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour Sunday at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Detroit, he was born March 31, 1951, the son of the late Austin Wendell Mathews and Christa Lea Reynolds Mathews.

He was a Civil Service employee for the U.S. government at Fort Campbell and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Pembroke.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wendell Ray Mathews, in 2013.

Survivors include his daughters, Misty Wolfe (Tommy) Lopez, Hopkinsville, and Jessica Lea Campbell, Dunbar, West Virginia; her brother, Herbie Mathews, Oak Grove; his sisters, Janie Rose Mathews, Oak Grove, and Cheri Lynn Mathews, Princeton; and two grandchildren.
