Carmen Michelle Elam

Michelle Elam, 59, of Hopkinsville, formerly of Morganfield, Kentucky, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville of natural causes.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Sturgis, Kentucky, with the Rev. Ronald Burkins officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the church.

Carmen was born on Nov. 18, 1960 in Hopkinsville to the late Robert Russell Elam and Christine Nell Reeves Gray.

She formerly worked at the Earl C. Clements Job Corps Center in Morganfield and Freudenberg in Hopkinsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mama Nellie Mae Reeves and a brother, Frank Gray Jr.

Survivors include a stepfather, Frank Gray Sr.; a daughter, Christie Elam, Hopkinsville; a son, Michael (Whitney) Elam, Morganfield; a brother, Andre (Valarie) Elam, Morganfield; six sisters, Gloria (Richard) Bibbs, Indianapolis, Indiana; Rena (the Rev. Ronald) Burkins, Robin Oliver, Ranada Gray, all of Morganfield; Cherie Person, Hopkinsville and Mitzi (Lester) Spaulding, Evansville, Indiana; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
