Ester Butler

Ester Young Butler, age 72, died Monday, January 11, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital, Evansville, Indiana of natural causes.

Service will be at noon, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland Butler, III. Burial will be in Butlertown Cemetery. There will be a walk-through visitation from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Gamble Funeral Home.

A native of Christian County, she was born August 29, 1948, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Frances Cross Young, Jr.

She was a member of St. Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served as First Lady. She was also a member of the Choir, Deaconess Ministry and Teacher. She was an LPN at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, she retired after 44 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Young, Lawrence R. Young; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include her husband, Rev.Roland Butler, Jr.; children, Karen (Tim) Evans, Karol (Rev. Kenny) Jones, Christine Butler, Lithia Springs, Georgia, Renee (Dr. Mitchell) Fort, Hopkinsville, and Rev. Roland (Kesha) Butler, III, Lebanon, Tennessee; siblings, Gary Young, Gloria Young, Mark (Dr. Alissa) Young, Hopkinsville, Arthur (Fredessa) Young, Pembroke, Teresa (Ronald) Graham, Clarksville, Larry Lewis, Wynyard, Tasmania, Karen Lewis Robey, Clarksville, Dwight “Stevie” Lewis, Pembroke; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
