You were elected to get things done

Tonight, as usual, I was watching the national news when I heard that a young immigrant boy died in our custody. Then I heard an elected legislator berating the head of the agency for not knowing a specific number. Wow, that is some show. What I did not hear, however, was that same elected legislator berating one of our state governors or the mayor of a major city for the loss of a child who died from abuse, neglect or starvation, one who is a legal resident of this country.

Any death is a tragedy, regardless of that individuals origin. But let's be serious, Mr. Elected Legislator, that child was not one of your constituents, those children dying everyday in this country deserve your attention and that of every elected official. And, by the way, I would like to see the autopsy report on that boy.

Instead of grand standing on T.V. over an illegal immigrant, do something about our immigrant laws. Actions speak louder than words. Sit down with your fellow legislators, from both sides of the aisle, get serious, come up with a workable immigration law. All of you have been sitting on your hands way too long arguing and blaming the other side for no action. Grab the bull by the horns, twist a few arms and get the job done that you were elected to do.

I, for one, am thoroughly disgusted with how little our elected officials are accomplishing. You were elected to get things done, so do them.
