GBKHCA uses late runto down Somerset

The Heritage Christian Academy outscored Somerset 18-6 in the fourth quarter Saturday to grab a 45-37 win at HCA.

The Lady Warriors trailed 25-20 at the half before a big second half propelled them to victory.

Meredith Crunk led HCA with 15 points while Abbi Bullock finished with 13 points to also finish in double digits.

Lady Blazers fall inAll 'A' Classic opener

The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers won last year's Second Region All "A" Classic tournament but this year's trip was much shorter as UHA fell to Caldwell County 49-37 in Princeton.

UHA fell behind 12-5 after the first frame and couldn't recover despite outscoring the Lady Tigers in the second half.

Meghan Adams led the Lady Blazers with 10 points.

The Blazers play Jan. 21 against Trigg County.

The Warriors fell behind early and couldn't find their footing to get back in the game as they fell 79-39 to Somerset.

HCA fell behind 24-9 after one and trailed 45-18 at the half in the contest.

Carlos Rubles led the Warriors with 10 points.

WRESTLINGColonels cruise towin at Big Schools Sectional duals

The Christian County Colonels dominated their five opponents at Saturday's Region 1 Big Schools duals at Ohio County.

The Colonels took down Apollo (64-12), Hopkinsville (70-10), McCracken County (61-12), Owensboro (72-6) and Ohio County (64-12).

Christian County is participating in two tournaments this weekend as they're headed to the Dragon Invitational at South Oldham and also the Laker Invitational at Calloway County.

SWIMMINGHoptown combines for4th at Best of the West

The Hopkinsville Tigers combined for fourth overall at Saturday's Best of the West in Bowling Green.

Hoptown finished with 181 points while BG won the event with 802 points. The Lady Tigers also took fourth with 145 points while BG finished first with 401. On the boys' side, BG finished with 401 to win while Hoptown took seventh with 36 points.

Ella Falco led the Lady Tigers with 36 points on the day as she got first in the 100-yard free and third in the 100-yard fly. Elli Colburn added 24 points with a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard free and an eighth-place finish in the 50-yard free. Elizabeth Langhi (17) and Madyson Hallmark (12) also had double-digit points for Hoptown.

On the boys' side, Chase Atkins had 16 points and Bryce Hanson finished with 13 points. Atkins finished third in the 50-yard free while Hanson finished sixth in the 50-yard free.
