Empty fields

Local baseball and softball fields have been empty for most of the second semester of school.

Christian County High School, Hopkinsville High School and University Heights Academy will honor its senior baseball and softball athletes at 8 p.m. on May 14.

The schools will turn on their baseball and softball field lights for 20 minutes and 20 seconds to honor each of the spring athletes who were unable to compete this due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Parents and players are encouraged to drive by each school and show their support for the athletes.

Loud music, honking and banners are encouraged to show support.

Those who attend the celebration are not allowed to leave their vehicle.

Coaches of each team are encouraged to show their support by numbering or lettering player names and uniforms on their respective fields.
