The Hoptown Hoppers have begun rolling out their 2021 Ohio Valley League roster ahead of the team’s return to the field after missing all of last year due to COVID-19.

Rollout of the roster began on Monday, and now there have been five players announced to take the field for the Hoppers this summer.

Four freshman and one sophomore from two schools will be wearing Hoptown jerseys this year.

Catcher Pat Walker, middle infielder Zayd Brannigan and lefty on the mound Garrett Sagro all three hail from the state of Georgia and play baseball for Georgia Highlands.

The trio has all seen time on the diamond so far this spring.

Sagro has appeared in 10 games on the mound and is 1-0 on the year and has a team-high four saves on the year. He has allowed six runs in 8.2 innings pitched, good enough for a 6.23 ERA.

Brannigan had played in six games this year. At the plate, the freshman is 3-for-10 with four RBIs. Brannigan has one home run and a triple thus far on the year.

Walker has played in just one game so far and has just one plate appearance on the season.

Jojo Cruz and Valek Cisneros from Eastern Oklahoma State College round out the five announced players. Cruz is a catcher and outfielder that hails from Villallba, Puerto Rico and Cisneros is a first baseman and right-handed pitcher from Arapolo, Oklahoma.

In 17 games, Cruz is batting .444 (12-for-27) with 12 runs and eight RBIs. Cisneros is 2-for-4 at the plate this season.

On the mound, Cisneros has pitched just six innings and has allowed five runs in those innings pitched.

The Hoppers are just getting started with their announcements as more will roll out soon. The organization is also still looking for three host families ahead of this season.
