The inaugural Best of the West 7-on-7 Football Tournament Friday brought plenty of heat and stiff competition to the Stadium of Champions and the Tie Breaker Athletic Complex as Mother Nature shortened everyone's day by a game as the championship round gets underway today.
All teams were scheduled to have six pool play games ahead of today, but the heat index nixed those plans as each team's final pool play game was canceled.
Three teams had a perfect 5-0 record in pool play as Madisonville-North Hopkins, Brentwood Academy "A" and Pearl Cohn went unblemished during the action.
Hopkinsville and Logan County finished 4-1 as Class 4A, District 1 went 13-2 on the first day of competition.
Christian County went 2-3 and is the 11th overall seed as Trigg County went 1-4 and is the 14th seed. Todd County Central also went 1-4 and comes in at No. 16.
All teams are guaranteed at least two games today as play starts at 9 a.m. with admission being $7.
