Lane Diuguid continued his hot start to the summer on the mound as he threw 113 pitches and struck out 11 in seven innings of work as he helped the Hoptown Hoppers defeat the Muhlenberg County Stallions 10-0 at Tiger Field tonight.
The former Christian County Colonel has been a very bright spot for the Hoppers so far this season, as he has pitched 18.2 innings this season and has just two earned runs to his name this season, boasting a 0.96 ERA through his three outings this year.
While he was dealing on the mound, his team was piling it on at the plate.
Hoptown scored four runs in the third and sixth innings to put themselves over the top in it’s fifth straight win dating back to last Wednesday.
All but two Hoppers got hits in the game and three had at least two RBI in the win.
The 3-4-5 hitters in the lineup had a solid day. The trio of Jacob Jenkins, Hunter Evans and Charlie Fischer combined to go 4-for-9 on the day, scoring four runs themselves and batting in six for the game.
Santrel Farmer and Ben Huber made their home debut and combined to go 2-for-4 with two runs scored as well.
After three straight losses, the young Hoppers have rallied together five straight wins and now sit atop the Ohio Valley League West standings at 6-3 on the year.
Hoptown will be back in action tomorrow night against the Madisonville Miners, a team that it beat 6-2 in the season opener. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Tiger Field.
