The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers’ season came to a close on Tuesday night as they fell 19-4 against Madisonville-North Hopkins in Henderson.

Hoptown took a 2-0 lead after the top half of the first inning but facing that deficit woke up the Lady Maroons.

Madisonville scored 16 runs in the bottom half of the first inning, putting Hoptown in danger of an early ending quickly.

The Lady Tigers answered with two more in the top of the second but Madisonville scored three in the next two innings to get to the 15-run rule, advancing to the next round of the region tournament, where the Lady Maroons will play Henderson County on Saturday.

Jakayla Grubbs went 2-for-2 at the plate in the loss, scoring both times she reached base. Shaniyah Straight got the Lady Tigers’ only other hit and Kaitlyn Kaetzel scored as well.
