The Nashville Predators (8-8-1) hosted the New York Islanders (11-7) Thursday night at Bridgestone Arena and won their third straight game by a score of 5-4. The Predators were coming off a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild at home Tuesday night. The Islanders meanwhile were coming off a 4-2 road victory Monday Nov. 14 against the Ottawa Senators.

Early in the first period just 1:03 into the game, the Predators made it 1-0 on a shot from the corner in close by Filip Forsberg with assists from Roman Josi and Juuso Parssinen. But the lead wasn’t for long as the Islanders struck moments later 2:43 into the game on a shot from Adam Pelech with the assist to Ryan Pulock. The Predators retook the lead later on in the period when Colton Sissons tipped in a shot from right front of the goal with assists to Cole Smith and Josi. Then just 58 seconds later Nino Niederreiter put it home on a shot from the side down low for a 3-1 Predators lead. McDonaugh and Josi picked up the assists on his goal. That would do it for the first period with the Predators leading 18-7 in the shots on goal category and 3-1 on the scoreboard.
