The KHSAA Board of Control met on Wednesday afternoon and made some big decisions regarding the winter sports season.

While giving the green light for football teams to begin their quests for a state football championship this weekend, the Board of Control also pushed back the start date for all winter sports to after the turn of the new year.

The board approved to push back all winter sports — mainly basketball — with the season officially beginning on Jan. 4. The high school basketball season was set to being on Monday, Nov. 23.

Along with basketball, wrestling, swimming, competitive cheerleading, and dance will be pushed back to the 4th as well.
