A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans a temporary southbound ramp closure at the Breathitt-Pennyrile Parkway/KY 800 Crofton Exit 23 Interchange on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.
The southbound exit and entry ramps at the Pennyrile Parkway/KY 800 Crofton Exit 23 Interchange are expected to be closed starting after the morning commute for approximately 3 to 4 hours on Tuesday to allow edge drains to be installed along the ramps. The contractor expects the work to be completed before the afternoon commute.
During this closure of the southbound ramps at Exit 23 portable message boards will direct motorists to alternate routes.
The contractor will attempt to provide timely notice when the ramps are able to reopen to traffic..
This planned work is part of a Pennyrile Parkway concrete pavement rehabilitation project that runs from near the KY 2642 Overpass starting at milepoint 16.556 extending northward to near the U.S. 41 Ramp Overpass at milepoint 29.9 near Mannington, a distance of 13.344 miles.
Motorists should remain alert for message boards and other traffic control along thiswork zone. This work zone that has been in place since May is divided into about 6 phases spread over two construction seasons.
Hall Contracting of KY, INC., is the prime contractor on this $43.2 million rehab project. This project has a target completion date of August 31, 2019.
The Pennyrile Parkway has been designated as a Future I-169 Spur Corridor.
