A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans a traffic shift along the Breathitt-Pennyrile Parkway work zone in Christian and Hopkins Counties on Friday, October 26, 2018.

This traffic shift planned for Friday is along the Pennyrile Parkway concrete pavement rehabilitation project that runs from near the KY 2642 Overpass starting at milepoint 16.556 extending northward to near the U.S. 41 Ramp Overpass at milepoint 29.9 near Mannington, a distance of 13.344 miles.

This traffic shift will eliminate 2-way traffic now running along the southbound lanes.  Once the shift is complete, this work zone will have one lane of traffic in each direction running in the right-hand or driving lane.

This traffic shift planned for Friday will take place immediately following completion of paving required to facilitate the shift.  The contractor will attempt to provide timely notice when the traffic shift is complete.

Motorists should be alert for personnel working along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow to move and position traffic control equipment to accomplish the shift.

Motorists should remain alert for message boards and other traffic control along the work zone.  This work zone that has been in place since May is divided into about 6 phases spread over two construction seasons.

Hall Contracting of KY, INC., is the prime contractor on this $43.2 million rehab project.  This project has a target completion date of August 31, 2019.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will attempt to provide timely work zone updates as traffic flow changes are required to facilitate the work.

The Pennyrile Parkway has been designated as a Future I-169 Spur Corridor.
