The Western Kentucky State Fair has been canceled due to COVID-19. The fair announced the cancellation on its Facebook page.

The spring Demo Derby was also canceled.

According to the fair’s website, The Fall Demo Derby is still scheduled for September at this time.

The fair was originally scheduled from June 26 until July 4. On May 6, it was announced that the fair had been postponed.

“With the current threat of COVID-19, the health and safety of our residents and visitors was the main consideration for our decision to postpone the Western Kentucky State Fair this year,” Preston Rives, WKSF board president, said in May. “We know this event is the highlight of summer for so many families, and we did not take this decision lightly.”

At that time, Rives said that the WKSF board hoped to reschedule the event.

Christian County saw 11 new COVID-19 cases since Friday, according to the Christian County Health Department. The county currently has 72 active cases.

Of those cases, 12 are pediatric, 53 are young or middle-aged adults and seven are older adults.

The county has seen 161 recovered cases and four deaths.
