Several individuals were arrested around 3 a.m. Thursday after a traffic stop at South Campbell and East Fourth streets when a stolen firearm was discovered, according to a Hopkinsville Police Department report.
Walter R. Mumford, 18, Hopkinsville, Savannah M. Acker, 21, LaFayette, Fredrick L. Reeves, 18, Hopkinsville, and Brittany S. Drounett, 28, Hopkinsville, were all passengers in a vehicle driven by a 14-year-old juvenile, the report stated.
Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle due to careless driving and a strong odor of marijuana, according to the report.
After conducting the traffic stop, the vehicle was searched by officers, who found a stolen firearm. Mumford then allegedly admitted the firearm was his and was “trying to be slick” by hiding it under his seat, the report said.
All four individuals were arrested and charged with third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.
Mumford had additional charges of receiving stolen property (firearm) and tampering with physical evidence.
