Hopkinsville native promoted to colonel

Edwin L Chilton II, of Hopkinsville, was promoted to colonel in the U.S. Army Sept. 13 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. 

He is the son of late Edwin Chilton I and Nancy Hutchinson. He is married to the former Charlene Graham with children Edwin and Isabella. 
He was commissioned in 1997 as a second lieutenant at Western Kentucky University and has served at the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg N.C.; 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell; United States Army Pacific, Fort Shafter, Hawaii; 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum N.Y.; Human Resources Command and United States Army Cadet Command, Fort Knox. 
He has served as a platoon leader, company commander, battalion S1 and S3, regiment S1, deputy G1, deputy adjutant general and battalion commander. He is currently the cadet command G1 and will attend Senior Service College next summer. 
He has deployed multiple times in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
