Clerk’s offices reopen to in-person renewals
Christian County clerks’ offices reopened to in-person renewals, but clerks are urging citizens to use online or mail-in options when possible.
According to Executive Order 2020-215 from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet the 90-day renewal date extension for expired Kentucky’s operator’s licenses, ID cards and permits ceased Monday.
Any licenses, IDs or permits that expired before Monday shall be extended 90 days. However, any licenses, IDs or permits that expire after Monday must be renewed in person at the circuit clerk’s office on or before the date of expiration.
Additionally, the 90-day extension period for vehicle registration certificates, license plates, tag certificates, handicapped parking permits and other licenses, registrations, certificates or permits mandated by the Department of Vehicle Registration and administered by the county clerk’s office is amended to include items expiring prior to Oct. 6.
A post on the Christian County Clerk’s Office Facebook page states that social distancing rules must be followed when renewing in person.
Customers are urged to renew yearly tags by mail, using drop off boxes at the county clerk’s office or renew online at www.drive.ky.gov.
