Bridge installation

A portion of Country Club Lane at LaFayette Road on Kentucky 380 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday for installation of a pedestrian walking bridge.

Contractors Scott and Murphy will close Country Club Lane near LaFayette Road between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday while the pedestrian bridge is moved into place for the Hopkinsville Rail Trail.

Detour signage will be installed and covered prior to the date and uncovered Wednesday morning.

The closure is needed to construct a pedestrian bridge central to a 1.7-mile expansion of the Hopkinsville greenway system as part of Hoptown-Christian County WINS projects. Once installed the 1,400-foot bridge, spanning over a ¼ mile, will be the longest of its kind in the state, according to the news release from the City of Hopkinsville.

As such, the bridge construction project will require an additional closure of LaFayette Road in the coming weeks. All closures are scheduled weather permitting.
